Riley is a board-certified physician assistant providing psychiatric care at Zellig Psychiatry. She earned her undergraduate degree in psychology from Rutgers University and her physician assistant degree from Thomas Jefferson University, graduating with honors from both institutions.

As an undergraduate, she worked in a research laboratory studying antidepressant response in models of depression. She also worked with children with neurodevelopmental conditions, including autism spectrum disorder. In graduate school, her capstone project focused on ketamine in the treatment of depression. She has since completed the Neuroscience Education Institute’s Master Psychopharmacology Program.

Her clinical experience spans inpatient and outpatient addiction medicine and psychiatry, where she has treated mood, anxiety, and attentional disorders in medically complex patients. She remains active in physician assistant–specific professional organizations and values advocacy for the evolving role of PAs in psychiatric care.

At Zellig Psychiatry, she provides careful, individualized outpatient care with an emphasis on collaborative decision-making and long-term functional improvement.

FAQ Section

Will insurance cover my visit?
We accept IBX, Highmark BCBS, BCBS PPO Plans, UPMC, Aetna, UHC, Oscar, and Capital Blue. In most cases, insurance covers the majority of your visit — and when there is a copay, it's typically small. If you have questions about your specific coverage, contact us and we'll help you sort it out.

Can I pay out of pocket?

Yes. Our self-pay rates are:
60-minute evaluation — $240
90-minute evaluation — $320
30-minute follow-up — $140

Payment plans are also available.
What happens at my first appointment?
Your first visit is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation lasting 60 to 90 minutes. Unlike many practices that limit initial visits to 30 or 40 minutes, we take the time to understand your full history, current symptoms, and goals for treatment. By the end, we'll discuss your options together and build a treatment plan that fits your life.
Do you offer telehealth?
Yes. We’re in-network with many major insurance plans, including Aetna, Cigna, and UnitedHealthcare. Contact us to check your specific coverage.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can schedule directly with us — no referral is needed.
Do I have to take medication?
Not necessarily. Medication is one tool among many, and it's never forced. We take a holistic approach to treatment — depending on your needs, that might include targeted supplements, behavioral interventions, lifestyle changes, or medication, or a combination. During your evaluation, we'll talk through all of your options so you can make an informed decision. This comprehensive approach is a big part of what sets Zellig apart — we're focused on finding what actually works for you, not just writing a prescription.
What's the difference between a psychiatric PA and a psychiatrist?
Both psychiatric physician assistants (PA-Cs) and psychiatrists diagnose mental health conditions and prescribe medication, including controlled substances. The difference is in training path — psychiatrists complete medical school and a residency, while PAs complete a master's-level PA program and can pursue additional doctoral degrees and fellowship training in psychiatry. In day-to-day practice, PAs and psychiatrists provide the same services: psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and ongoing treatment. Our PAs collaborate on cases with our Johns Hopkins-trained medical director, ensuring your care meets the highest standards.
